VIDEO: RBG FILMMAKERS ON RUTH BADER GINSBURG’S GYM ROUTINE

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is the subject of filmmakers Julie Cohen and Betsy West’s documentary RBG. Justice Ginsburg, who is in her 80’s hits the gym 3 times a week. Cohen describes how they got to shoot the Justice exercising in the gym for their film.

We have an extended interview coming up with Cohen and West on how they got to make their documentary on RBG. The film releases in early May 2018.

Director Michel Hazanavicius talks about his Academy Award winning film The Artist (2011) and about his new French film Godard Mon Amour (2018). Louis Garrel essays the role of the famous French filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard. Godard Mon Amour is based on the memoirs of Anne Wiazemsky, who was married to Godard.

Godard Mon Amour stars Louis Garell, Stacy Martin, Bernice Bejo and Gregory Gadebois.

VIDEO: DR. CYNTHIA LEE OF STANFORD ON WOMEN IN STEM

Dr. Cynthia Lee teaches computer science at Stanford University. Dr. Lee shares how young children (girls and boys) are equally interested in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), but by the time they enter middle school that interest appears to undergo a change and the number of girls interested in STEM declines. She shares how she went through a similar phase and lost interest in math. Her reasoning was since she could solve the math problems quickly enough and slowly lost interest in the subject. Around high school she re-discovered her love for math and went on to do a PhD in computer science. Tune in to find out what else Dr. Lee has to share on the subject on Women in STEM.

WEIU-TV a member of the Public Broadcasting Station (PBS) located in Charleston, IL. WEIU-TV is currently broadcasting our 9-part TV special on Women in Science and Technology from Silicon Valley on Tuesday evenings from 9.00 to 9.30 pm. You can watch the show on Channel 51 in Charleston, Champaign, Decatur and other areas in Eastern Illinois region.

VIDEO: FILMMAKER AARON KATZ ON THE MAKING OF HIS NOIR FILM GEMINI & LOLA KIRKE

Filmmaker Aaron Katz talks about the making of GEMINI, a noir film set in Los Angeles. The film centers around the relationship between a famous young actress (Zoe Kravitz) and her personal assistant (Lola Kirke). Often, the boundaries between their personal and professional life is blurred.

We met Katz in San Francisco and spoke on a wide range of topics from the making of Gemini to how he came to work with Kirke and his fascination with detective stories and his love for films. We also spoke about Katz’s focus is establishing the location of the cities that his films are set in.

Katz previous work includes Land Ho!  Quiet City and Cold Weather.

Katz wrote, directed and edited Gemini that is currently showing in theaters in the San Francisco Bay Area.
